Cabin Profile: August 2025

Focusing On:

My main focus right now is learning Python through the Harvard CS50x “Introduction to Programming with Python” course. It’s free and I’m using it as a prerequisite to a big Generative AI course offered by MIT from October to December. This is purely professional based; as unfortunate as it is to devote so much time to AI, I am afraid of irrelevancy in my field. It’s a complete toss-up if it will be valuable or not (the AI course), but I have to commit to learning something.

Reading:

Inching my way through “Gone Girl”; I keep borrowing it from the library on my Kobo, reading 30-40 pages and then letting it get auto-returned. I should just finish the damn thing.

Watching:

  • No TV shows on the rotation right now unfortunately, Yellowjackets was the most recent show but it has been finished until the next season which won’t be for some time.
  • I know this is 3 (4?) (5?) years late, but I really would like to watch Chernobyl.
  • my better half insisted that we watch Love Is Blind UK S2, I’ve never wished for an internet outage more…

Tinkering:

  • I’ve been trying to make use of Notion.so more, as I do really like the extensive feature set. Haven’t been able to justify spending for premium yet though.
  • Another app I have spent a lot of time instituting is raindrop.io, it’s an amazing little bookmark manager with a massive feature set. Although it has started to become a bookmark graveyard, so I need to devise a retention and use policy of some kind.
  • I bought a HiDock P1 and for the meetings I have used it for thus far, it has been very impressive.
Miscellany:
  • The male loneliness epidemic is real, but I don’t want to just drink beer, I don’t want to bash women, and I don’t want to just play games. I miss
  • Haven’t had any really good coffee in awhile
  • My birthday was this month, unfortunately it was a little lackluster; I was coming off of being sick and my lady had caught up and was in the throes of being sick. And it fell on Monday 😕
